Frequently asked questions
What do you do?
I design and build high-quality WordPress websites for businesses and entrepreneurs worldwide, with a focus on hospitality, food and beverage, wellness, architecture, and creative industries.
Why let me build your website?
My focus is on UX. That means building websites that are thoughtfully structured and semantically sound, using latest schema markup—not only to improve accessibility and usability, but also to help search engines (SEO) and AI systems like ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, and Perplexity better understand, trust, cite, and recommend your content.
I follow industry-standard best practices to create responsive, scaleable websites that are fast (clean code output), accessible, user-friendly, and built to deliver the best possible value for your money.
How will you make my website fast?
Everything is optimized from the outset, from images and custom graphics to the underlying code. I continuously test performance using tools such as GTmetrix and Lighthouse, while also evaluating accessibility against established WCAG guidelines and compliance standards.
Can you provide hosting?
Yes, I offer fully managed cloud hosting powered by Google Cloud, with dedicated resources and a range of performance, security, and reliability features. This includes daily backups, dynamic caching, NGINX direct delivery, CDN, lightning-fast PHP, anti-bot protection, and a smart WAF with WordPress-specific security rules to help keep your website fast, secure, and reliable.
For full details and pricing, please see the service plans above.
What tools do you use?
My background is in web development, with over 12 years of hands-on experience working with HTML, CSS/Sass, JavaScript, and PHP.
These days, I build websites with WordPress, the world’s leading open-source content management system (CMS). Powering more than 40% of all websites on the internet, WordPress has become one of the most flexible and adaptable platforms for building everything from small business websites and blogs to complex, custom digital experiences.
What I love about WordPress is the freedom it gives me as a designer and developer. Its powerful theme and plugin architecture allows me to create highly customised websites without locking you into a rigid platform. Whether you need a simple, elegant website today or want to expand it with new features and functionality down the road, WordPress gives us the flexibility to build, evolve, and scale with your business.
Other tools include:
- Bricks Builder
- Oxygen 6
- Core Framework
- Meta Box
- WPCodeBox
- WPGridBuilder
Do you use AI?
I use AI tools for research, analysis, and improving my workflow and productivity. When it comes to web design and development, however, AI is used as an assistant rather than a replacement for the creative and technical process. I may use AI to explore ideas, generate design inspiration, or help develop custom solutions, but the finished website remains around 99% human-crafted.
Your website is designed, developed, and optimized by a real human—me. This human-led approach helps create clear, useful, and well-structured content that can be better understood by search engines and AI systems such as ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, and Perplexity, increasing the potential for your content to be discovered, trusted, cited, and recommended.
What is a project timeline?
Project timelines depend largely on the scope and complexity of the project. A typical one- to five-page website can usually be completed within 1–2 weeks, while larger or more complex projects may take 6–8 weeks from initial planning and design through to development, testing, and launch.
I’ll always provide a clear timeline upfront, so you’ll know what to expect at each stage of the project.
Invoicing & migration
Invoices are issued between the 10th and 20th of each month, depending on the plan you selected above.
MOVING YOUR WEBSITE?
If you have a separate agreement with me at a different rate, such as a local business rate or other discount, I’ll continue to honour that rate for as long as you remain a client.
If you decide to move your project to another developer or agency, I’m more than happy to assist with the transition. Any assistance required to prepare your website for migration will be charged at a nominal rate of €1.28 (£1.10) per minute.
If I currently host your website, once the migration has been completed, your membership charges will cease and the website will be removed from my servers.
Can you maintain my website?
Yes. Each project plan (see above) includes a monthly subscription option for ongoing website development, unlimited updates, and maintenance.
It’s a flexible way to keep your website up to date, secure, optimised, and continually evolving without having to worry about hourly rates or unexpected development costs.
